Friday 5th February 2010
Dear Parents/Caregivers
Due to the children's current interest in Māori culture, we have organised a day trip to Auckland Museum on Wednesday 24th of February. The children will be going to a Māori cultural show at 11.00am, where they will see Māori people in action doing the haka, using poi, playing traditional Māori games and singing a variety of waiata (songs). All of these things the children are learning how to do at present, in the hope that one day in the near future they will be able to show you at another of our parent's evenings.
We will be travelling to and from the Museum by bus, and the teacher/child ratio will be 1:4 (that is, one teacher per four children). Whilst we are at the Museum, we would also like to follow up on another interest of the children's...bugs and insects. Therefore we have arranged to visit "Weird and Wonderful" as well. The cost of the trip is $25.00 per child. This pays for our transport and entrance fees to both the Cultural Show and Weird and Wonderful.
Please make sure that your child arrives no later than 9.00am on the morning of our trip because prior to our departure at 9.30am sharp, there are lots of things we need to do first. For example, the children will be given morning tea before we leave, they will need to get into their assigned groups, put their name badges on, go to the toilet, and so on. We will be packing a lunch to take with us. If your child is late or cannot attend the trip for whatever reason, they will need to spend the day in the Tui Room.
The following is how we are planning to schedule our day.

Kind Regards
