Up, Up and Away!!
Recently Taylor, Tudor and Jaelynn were playing with balloons outside. They decided to see what would happen if they tied all three balloons together. They wondered if the balloons would be strong enough to carry them up into the sky.

After our adventurous 4 year olds tried and failed to get lift off and escape from the Pukeko playground, they came and asked me why the balloons wouldn’t carry them away. I asked them why they thought the balloons wouldn’t lift them up. Taylor said, “Because they haven’t got any gas in them”. Ha Ha now you're thinking Taylor. The next day we had a visit from a business group and they brought a big bunch of helium balloons. Perfect! Now we could have some fun experimenting with helium gas.

We had a few hiccups along the way. Like when Saira let them go to show everyone how balloons filled with helium go straight up. Oh dear! Saira let them go on the highest side of the room and they were clinging to the ceiling leaving Saira having to think very quickly about how she was going to get them back. After a lot of pressure from Taylor and Tudor, Saira came up with a plan. So with the help of Tudor and Taylor, we rescued the balloons and were able to start some more experimenting. We decided to right a message on the balloons and let them go, hoping someone might find one of them and contact us to let us know how far it had travelled.
